"Are you my Daddy?"
Lexi felt a tear drip down his face. "Yes...yes, I am your Daddy."
The little boy looked down for a moment and then glanced back up at him with those big rainbow eyes. "Do...do you love me?"
A crack ripped clean through the sun elf's heart. "Of...of course," he stuttered, stricken. "Of course I love you...why wouldn't I?"
Elijah looked down again and his little shoulders shrugged shyly. "I dunno....cause...cause you left Mommy..."
Those tears burst over his eyes and Lexi just clutched the child to his chest. "Elijah," he whispered. "I love you with everything I am..."

Lexi and his son Elijah, at their meeting for the first time. It's a long story, but in short, Lexi made nookie with a witch named Cora, neither of them aware of each other's mystical heritages. Cora got pregnant, died in the violent childbirth of having a half elf baby, and Lexi didn't know as it was a fling. If he had, he'd have stayed, but he finds out about the little boy about one hundred years later and when Eli is around 5 in elf terms. Eli was never sure why he didn't have a daddy, but he always wondered if he was loved by him, or if he had abandoned mommy. Now he knows.
